Mickey Rourke Wins at BAFTA 2009 Awards Ceremony
Mickey Rourke's priceless acceptance for the best actor trophy, presented by 2008 BAFTA* and Oscar winner Marion Cottilard. This cannot possibly be topped at the US Academy Awards. First, The Wrestler is a terrific movie -- Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei and director Darren Aronofsky rock in a year chock full of really good flicks.
Kate Winslet won for best actress, and Penélope Cruz for best supporting actress (via Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona). Mick Jagger, after making Brad Pitt and Angelina smile and laugh, presented the best film award -- for Danny Boyle and Loveleen Tandan's Slumdog Millionaire.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great speech. Remarkably honest and self-deprecating for this kind of event
I had no idea. Can't watch the video. Thanks for the news update :)
ReplyDeletecan't watch for sucky bandwidth, not a problem with the file.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the movie
ReplyDeleteLol.
ReplyDeleteKind of amazing that he actually looks freakier in real life these days than he did as "the Ram"...
ReplyDeleteROUKE IS ALSO SMART AND CAN SPEAK WELL AND HONESTLY EVEN IF SOME WORDS ARE NOT SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE. HE DID A GREAT INTERVIEW WITH TAVIS SMILEY.
ReplyDeleteHey Eric, Have you seen "Barfly"? It's my favorite M.R. movie. It's based on Charles Bukowski's life.
ReplyDeleteRourke certainly was a nightmare on the Hollywood scene. Sounds like he might have gotten his act together. Age will do that to a person.
ReplyDeleteMickey Rourke is still his own man. That is what's important.
