De-troit Basketball: Chauncey Billups Leads the Attack
The Pistons defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 109-99 last night in a well-contested and sometimes harrowing game. If Detroit wins tomorrow, they will knock the Bucks out of the playoffs and proceed to the next round. With any luck, I intend to be there. Believe it or not, there were still some $60 tickets left right after last night’s win!
Spotlight on Chauncey Billups (6'3"), who scored 34 points last night. He seemed never to have lost his nerve, even when things were dicey. Billups is the kind of man you want in such top form as often as humanly possible.
Chauncey (9/25/76) hails from Denver and was a member of four other pro teams before signing on with the Pistons as a free agent for the 2002-03 season and has been a champion for Detroit ever since. He currently co-captains the team with Big Ben Wallace. Besides excellent leadership skills and a will to win, Chauncey “Mr. Big Shot” Billups swooshes a lot of three-pointers and free throws. His favored nickname is “Smooth,” which suits him well. His wife Piper Billups is expecting a third child this summer; their two daughters are Cydney and Ciana. Great names!
Metro Detroit can always use another lift from the Pistons this year, and so far, so good. Go, Chauncey! Go, team!
