By air, the German Condor Legion attacked the Basque town of Guernica 70 years ago today. Thank God for artists and cultural remembrance. In this case, thank Pablo Picasso. Nobody ever called him an asshole. Meanwhile, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Picasso was a creator and destroyer.
I just heard a piece on NPR this morning, well, at least part of one, about teaching the history of the Spanish civil war in Spain. The teacher recounted asking her students when the civil war was fought and some of them answered in the 1970's.
It's not just Americans, which is a relief.
Two genius quotes inside one little paragraph, and woven in perfectly. Well played, my friend.
Incredible! Nothing more can I say! MW
