I Don't Wanna Go to Iraq or Iran and That's a No to Afghanistan

Michigan, the filet of the USA, is like a gloomy gulag lately -- snow raining down like uncooked grits, economy in a shambles, all classes but the very top depressed and in disarray, scraping along. Never enough to get ahead, just enough to get by. Public resources squandered overseas by a leader that's now even more incompetent than Mussolini. Hell, we can't even get the roads in order let alone get the trains to run on time. There are no trains. Coming on ten years I've been here and the roads are always a disaster. 38 more schools to close in Detroit. Social spending cut. Most children left behind. Good times now, good times ahead.

"I Don't Wanna Go to Vietnam"

John Lee Hooker, Tantalizing The Blues (1968)

Sittin' down here thinkin'
I don't wanna go to Vietnam
I'm sittin' down here thinkin'
I don't wanna go to Vietnam
I have all these troubles at home
I don't wanna go to Vietnam
I read the news every day
I read about Vietnam
I read the news every day
I read about Vietnam
I got so much friends in Vietnam
I might not never see them no more

Sittin' here thinkin'
I don't wanna go to Vietnam
Sittin' here thinkin' thinkin', thinkin'
I don't wanna go to
Vietnam

You men in the street have so much trouble of their own
Why they wanna fight in Vietnam?
Have mercy Lord have mercy, don't let me go to Vietnam
Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, don't let me go to Vietnam
I have my wife and my family, I don't wanna go to Vietnam
We got so much trouble at home,
We don't need to go to Vietnam
Yeah yeah, there's a whole lot of trouble right here at home
Don't need to go to Vietnam
We oughta stay at home, stay out of trouble
I don't wanna go I don't wanna go
Vietnam

Erik,
I here you loud and clear on this one. As a state employee, I've given concessions to our poor state, and now our Governor is threatening state government shutdowns in May. I guess I could sub in the public schools until summer comes along.

Have a nice Easter.
