Wolfy on the Fold

Paul "Wolfy" Wolfowitz (b. 12/22/1943) has done a heckuvajob. Any rational person would want him to stay on as head of the World Bank, drawing a $300,000+ salary when Shaha Ali Riza -- his fifty-something "girlfriend," after being moved out of the World Bank proper, was moved to the US State Department and given a raise from $132,660 to $193,590. Her new supervisor? Dick Cheney's daughter Elizabeth Cheney. She has apparently been shuttled to another job at least once more, this time with the Foundation for the Future, though the Foundation's website, as of today, does not list her as a staff member.

In any case, Wolfy has done so well in the past, how could he not be an effective World Bank leader? Besides, the Wall Street Journal loves him, so he must be great! He was, after all, Deputy Secretary of Defense for G.W. Bush from 2001 to 2005, serving with the esteemed and widely respected Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. Part of the wonderful Bush team that elected to invade Iraq. Three cheers to the Best and the Brightest of the Bush Administration!

What transgresses next ought to be at least as entertaining as the Phil Spector/Lana Clarkson trial. Maybe it'll even make Entertainment Tonight!

Great post. He'll be shuffled sideways unless a hue and cry is made, which I guess has been done....

" the esteemed and widely respected Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. Part "

Do I detect sarcasm there?
