Remembering to Remember

Our minds are strange but interesting, yes? How do we remember to remember things in the future, even tomorrow? Prospective memory is helped or triggered by such mundane -- but key -- devices as "to do" lists, the dreaded alarm clock(s), and notes to self.

I routinely create prospective memory notes and lists and yet rarely get everything in them done in one shot or even in a day. Then again, Rome was not built in a day, either, right? Today's tedious list reminds me to fuel up my car, get a haircut, purchase some books for school, send personal cards, grade tests and papers, order new checks, make a dental appointment, make an eye appointment so I can buy new contacts, etc. Not that I'd forget these things, but it's good to keep in mind the essential actions that need to get done -- like pay bills, blah blah blah.

Isn't life grand? With summer on the way, my lists do tend to become grander and more fun and include travel plans. And that's a good thing, yeah yeah yeah.

Note to self: Avoid flying to Iraq for the next thirty years.

Today's Rune: The Mystery Rune.

Birthdays: Marquis de Sade, Alesandro di Cagliostro, John Randolph, Thomas Hardy, Johnny Weismuller, Dorothy West, Barbara Pym, Carol Shields, Stacy Keach, Charlie Watts, Frank Rich, Lydia Lunch, Caroline Link.

Hasta La Vista! Pistons do or die!

I make tons of lists. Frequently I lose them though, and then have to make new ones, which are usually missing some key item.

Pretty soon we get to leave grading papers off of our lists though, yea summer vacation!

I like to make lists in part because I enjoy crossing off items as I complete them.
