Wash Your Sins With Ice

According to http://www.pollingreport.com/, Bill Clinton left office in early 2001 with a 66% approval rating -- even after the Monica Lewinsky scandal and all that tripe. He began in 1993 with a 60% approval rating.

By contrast, G.W. Bush currently rates a 26-31% approval rating, the exact reverse of Clinton. Or let's put it this way: Bill Clinton was more than twice as popular than Lil' Bush is. Too bad Bill can't run for president in 2008. He would be the strongest candidate in the whole overwrought arena, without question. It's hard to take any of the Republican candidates seriously, when most will not even admit they believe in Evolution. They look and sound like a bunch of clowns pandering to their Bozo base. The Democrats, though, still seem relatively anemic or bland. Plenty of time for new blood infusions, mercifully.

Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoghbi. Perhaps she could bring peace to the Middle East? Certainly she could shake things up better than Tony Blair, the lame new "Quartet" envoy to the region.

Stokely Carmichael. Where are today's firebrand leaders in the USA?

Today's Rune: Partnership.

Birthdays: Robert Schuman, Jean-Baptiste Marie Roger de Saint-Exupéry, John Toland, Slim Pickens (Louis Burton Lindley, Jr.),Vasko Popa, Harmon Killebrew, Kwame Ture (Stokely Churchill Carmichael), Little Eva (Eva Narcissus Boyd), Gary Busey, Richard Lewis, Evelyn Champagne King, Nawal Al Zoghbi.

Ciao!

My father was the only white guy to ride in Stokely Carmichael's car in some march, Selma I think, because my father has a "black soul".

Peace and Power,

Clinton had the popularity to do some amazing things but he couldn't get past his personal demons to do as much as he could have. Certainly he was better than W, but I regret that he wasn't as good as he could have been.
