Isaac Hayes at 65, RIP

Isaac Hayes was cool and controversial, hip and Chef. Been grooving to Shaft (1971) lately anyway, so was especially sorry to hear he keeled over from his treadmill at home in Memphis.

Here the man performs in 1973. I believe that's Jesse Jackson in a dashiki, guiding him on stage.

Today's Rune: Strength. Isaac Hayes & Bernie Mac, RIP.

I heard about this. Didn't hear how he died, though.

Yeah, hated to hear he'd passed away. I remember him from "Shaft" of course and also from his appearances on "The Rockford Files" and the Academy Awards when some of the fog effects engulfed him and Billy Crystal made jokes about him disappearing.

Very sad - I read that Hot Buttered Soul is a must to listen to? A future post?

I'm sure it 'inspired' the UK novelty hit: 'Popcorn' by 'HOt Butter'

It wasn't British, as I'm sure you knew!
