All in All, It's Been a Good Visit . . .

W., Oliver Stone's biopic of our soon to be retiring president, is scheduled for release next month and I look forward to it, one of the first non-documentary cinematic attempts to make any narrative sense of how he got to where he got and how he helped steer us to where we're at collectively -- just shy of another national election. Here's an early trailer:

Bush has been called by many a "disaster president," so I suppose it's no irony he'll be touring Houston on Tuesday in the wake of Hurricane Ike. While he's at it, the real W. may be looking for a dry intact house there for moving into next year. . .

Speaking of disasters, one of the casualties of Ike was the Balinese Room, former gangster casino and all around house of pleasure in Galveston. Old Blue Eyes sang there back in the day. It was destroyed on Saturday morning.

"All in All, It's Been a Good Visit . . ." -- Tony Soprano.

If there was ever an administration that caused the nation to sail on The Ship of Fools; it was this one.

Except for theoneocon standards is there any good that bush(or should I say chaney) has done for the population he was to lead?

I can't quite understand why I'd want to watch a biopic on a guy who 1) just isn't very interesting in the first place, and 2) who I've had way too much of over nearly 8 years.

Rob Cordry as Ari Fleischer. Wow.

The problem with this movie is that Sone can't put any wacky spin on the W biography that any of us who've been paying attention these past 9 years don't know already. And it's been damn painful enough living through in real life, without paying to see it dramatized on the big screen.
