Burn After Reading
Coming on Friday, September 12th, 2008: Joel and Ethan Coen's Burn After Reading (2008). The Coen brothers are always wild and woolly, and sometimes ultra-creepy . . .
Offhand, my fave Coen films include Blood Simple (1984), The Big Lebowski (1998), Bad Santa (2003, producers), and No Country for Old Men (2007). Nods also to Raising Arizona (1987), Fargo (1996), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), et alia.
Burn After Reading looks to be darkly comedic (no surprise there).
The GOP effort looks darkly comedic this year, as well. The Wizard of Oz meets The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Two months to go before its sequel: Gone with the Wind . . .
Today's Rune: Harvest.

blood simple and No country for old men were my favorites among that list.
Burn After Reading looks like it's going to be interesting. I also enjoyed many of the others on your list.
Blood Simple will always be my favorite of theirs. The whole miscommunication, the dialogue, the story held my interest from beginning to end. I wonder how long it'll take before someone makes a movie about a hockey mom getting picked to be a veep candidate? There's probably projects in the works as I write this.
Hooray! I've actually seen all of the flickers that you speak of except the RNC convention.
Tommy Lee Jones is suing the makers of "No Country" for $10 million. He was miscast, by the way, in the film. His lack of energy was apparent, but he just wasn't enough of a "bumbler." Tony Shaloub would've been perfect IMHO.--Oscar Winner
