Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha: Laughter Yoga Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk

Got to see Burn After Reading today (George Clooney and Frances McDormand star) and loved it but beware, recent ads make it seem more lightly comedic than it is -- this one tilts closer toward the black humor of Fargo vs. the playfulness of The Big Lebowski (i.e. there is more lethal violence than I expected going into it). The ensemble actors/characters are smashing, the dialogue biting and observations acutely wicked (somehow the Coen brothers always seem to get the pulse -- and pure wackiness -- of modern culture). I'll see it again, too!

Also today and sort of in the flow of this post's movie choice, a woman possibly in her early 80s started chatting me up about the benefits of Laughter Yoga, or Laughing Yoga as she also called it. She was very enthusiastic about it. She said she'd attended free classes, the yoga was easy to follow and do, but mostly, everybody in the class focused on how to laugh more. The instructor had them pull out cell phones and have imaginary hilarious conversations with imaginary people, speak in goofy tongues, and make infectiously funny faces. Sounded to me like a Pentecostal snake handling service only with more of a sense of humor. Hey, whatever works -- I'm far too antsy for regular yoga and what's the harm in an extra laugh or two?

This woman (named Terry) said there are lots of examples of Laughing Yoga on YouTube. Furthermore, there's a website: www.laughteryoga.org/ This looks to have a lot more about its main proponent, Dr. Madan Kataria, and so on. So Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha to negative energies! Can you dig?

Today's Rune: The Self.

Feeling too tired to laugh at the moment, even though it would be good for me.

Thanks for the tip on the movie. The Coen brothers are great, but have had a couple of missteps lately.

I want to see Pitt get popped in the face. Malkovich has always been a favorite.

Need a laugh? I think me trying yoga of any kind would allow the room peals of but gusting.

Looks like I will like it when I get a chance to see it. I want to see the Bob and Al's movie too.

Laughing Yoga? No thanks. I'd rather watch the Coen Bro's violently funny movie.

I read a horrible review of that movie just yesterday, actually...not that I tend to listen to reviews much. It looks interesting. Thanks for your take on it!
Laughter is always good & the harder the laugh, the better the benefits. I appreciate the yoga angle, but laughter is quite healing even by itself. I'm not even sure that there's any real, greater power in the world.
