27-23 Oorah!

Steelers defeated the Cardinals, 27-23 in a wild game full of penalties and surprises. It was up in the air until the final seconds, and either side could have won. But I'm glad it was the Steelers who did. I lost all interest in the Cardinals when they left St. Louis about twenty years ago -- and didn't like them all that much before then, either. And now, come to think of it, how good can Arizona be if it produced Cindy and John McCain and was favored by Fox News? Better duck now, you suckers! To the victors go the spoils . . .

For Steelers fans, I'm sure there'll be an update, but for now on DVD: NFL Films, The Complete History of the Pittsburgh Steelers (2005)

Having left the flatscreen to the old lady and not being a beer fan either I wound up drinking Sumatran coffee and working on a new project...unfortunately I came home to soon and was forced to the church service.

Prostrate on the alter of sport I looked for the god of the underdog to rise from the sea of adoration and was not afraid when it raised its fearsome head. I was equally not awe struck when the god of 300 pound ballet dancers poofed that hope with its elephantine buttocks.

Yet I understand the need of the distraction, the thrill of hard fought victory, the joy of a seesaw time riding in a space away from the mundane reality of the things that beset our world.

Now we enter that dry time, the yearly sport withdrawal which won't end until baseball season comes to mark the fierceness of the end of hockey and basketball season.

At least 'til then I get to hold the remote.

If only the Detroit Lions' Fords had taken a page from the Steelers' Rooney family.--Night Train Lane

Enjoyed the game with friends, and Macy the dog. The food rocked as did the game. Just an excuse to have fun, as if I've ever needed one! WM, you are correct, though, and FUNNY!!

It was a great game, wasn't it? My brother picked the Cardinals to win by 3 and for a while I thought he'd hit it.

I've long been a fan of the Steelers. And why? Because they are winners, as their six time superbowl championships show.

I was cheering for the Cardinals.

I wonder if that complete history of the Steelers mentions how much stick'em the wide receivers put on their hands to catch the inaccurate passes from Terry Bradshaw. Back then the refs were constantly wiping the sticky substance off the ball.

As for this Superbowl, I witnessed a couple of dirty players on the Pittsburgh team.

Thanks, all for the comments. Right on, Mark -- you nailed it.

I'll get to all of yours again asap -- it was a very close game, and anyone could've won, no question. A lot of Hail Mary's.

One thing I can say, Jim: I was never a big fan of Terry Bradshaw, but thought Franco Harris was cool.
