All Aboard for National Train Day!
Since tomorrow is technically National Train Day in the USA, here are a few shots from the Texas Eagle trip to San Antonio. Above is upon arrival on a Thursday night at the downtown station, during Fiesta. Passengers like me rode on the top. Bright lights, big city -- looking festive.

On the way down, resuming after a short stop along the way. This lounge car (or club car) is pretty ideal for sightseeing, reading, working on a laptop, having a cup of coffee, and chatting with other travelers. Needs universal internet acccess, though.
Passed a parked Pullman train on the way down.
As I've stated before, the Amtrak idea is "on track," just needs an upgrade to get more people to ride. Greater speed and a few more whistles and bells, as it were. When gas prices rise again, that'll be another incentive. Let me tell ya, it's a lot more fun than flying these days.
Today's Rune: Strength.

Maybe Lana and I can plan a train trip for our next vacation.
Watching grass grow is more fun than flying...
This is one of the things Id like to do some day, that is travel to the north east or to canada to see the change of seasons, someday hopefully
I love riding trains. The first pic looked pretty.
I agree with WM. The whole hurry up and wait thing is exhausting and droll.
