Rollin' and Tumblin'

"Rollin' and Tumblin'" is a cool, oft-played song. I particularly like this take by Elmore James (1960), Muddy Waters' version (1950) and Bob Dylan's terrific 2006 cut, the only version I've gotten to see live, from Modern Times. Lyrics to Dylan's take can be found here: http://expectingrain.com/dok/cd/2006/moderntimeslyrics.shtml

Meanwhile, here's a little poem by Erik Donald France:

Civilization

The old dog used to hunt rabbits without thought, by instinct.
Now that she's learned about modern life, though,
She lies in the cut grass, sunning herself, napping,
Waiting dreamily for her next meal's ritual appearance in a bowl.

Today's Rune: Separation (Reversed).

Go read Ivan's current post "Light Over Newmarket"...You say poetically what he says so well in an essay (of sorts)

Nice poem and very true. Modern life makes us lazy. And I am loving your taste in music.

THAT OLD DOG USED TO LICK HIS WOUNDS, GNAW ON BONES. NOW HE HAS TO GO TO THE VETS TO GET FIXED UP AND HAVE HIS TEETH CLEANED.

Eric, seems we have bread most instincts out of our pets. Mine sleep on cushy leather and cashmere and woundn't know how to hunt to save their little asses! Kinda like their owners, huh?
