Temptations Sing: Ball of Confusion (That's What The World Is Today)
A little sample from Norman Whitfield/Barrett Strong, "Ball of Confusion (That's What The World is Today)" (1970), backing track by The Funk Brothers and sung by The Temptations -- recorded in Detroit, Studio A, Hitsville USA, April, 1970:
And it seems,
Nobody is interested in learnin'
But the teacher:
Segregation, determination, demonstration,
Integration, aggravation,
Humiliation, obligation to our nation
Ball of Confusion
That's what the world is today
The sale of pills at an all time high
Young folks walk around with
Their heads in the sky
Cities aflame in the summer time
And, the beat goes on . . .
I was gonna do the Isley Brothers today, but this one popped to mind today ahead of the big health summit between embattled American factions. Temptations have some killer tracks -- any other faves out there? And the band played on . . .
Today's Rune: Joy.

What a great resource!
It will be an interesting day for the masses stuck in the impasses of them elected to lead.
Odd how soon the cycles of confusion came back around to bite this generation in the ass. Disproves the theory about lightning not striking the same place twice.
The Isleys have put out a ton of great music!
Do you remember the Love and Rockets cover of Ball of Confusion in the eighties?
Nobody is interested in learning but the teacher. Hum, I can identify with that remark sometimes.
Erik, have you heard the remake by Duran Duran? It's different but still cool. Love the pic on FB!
nice post. thanks.
Hey, y'all, thanks for the comments. I do know the Love & Rockets version, but not the Duran Duran. Plus Tina Turner's.
