We Only Wish to Wander on the Prairie

Yesterday, made a pilgrimage to Comanche, Kiowa and Apache lands. On the sprawling grounds of Fort Sill, found the Apache POW cemeteries in farflung bottomlands, including the modest graves of Goyaałé / Geronimo (1829-1909) and his family. Also saw a lot of 20th century artillery.

A sign giving the basics about the Apache buried at Fort Sill and their relatives who lived to be free again, long after their wars were over.

Here, I'm standing with the white buffalo outside the Comanche Cultural Center. Also visited the Comanche Nation Complex, and saw the Comanche and Apache casinos -- only about a mile apart from each other (the Comanche Nation has several in the regional area).  The 19th Annual Comanche Nation Fair will be held at the Comanche Nation Complex on October 1-3, 2010. Erik, how very cool. I would love to visit there. The pics of you are great, especially with the white buffalo!

I wonder if we need a new definition for "living free." Not a criticism just an observation brother.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I would definitely love to see all this. Is that monument made out of cannonballs? looks like it.

Hey y'all, thanks for the comments! WM, no doubt. Charles, I think they're rocks made to look like cannon balls, but I may be wrong. Supposedly "Skull and Bones Society" members (including a Bush) stole items from the grave, perhaps a myth.
