1968: Soul!

I keep looking at 1968 as "Revolutionary Year One" because globally, it really was far out, with a lot of tumult, revolution, war and general mayhem, but also boundary-shifting creativity. After 1968, there was no going all the way back to any "fossilized" status quo -- although people keep trying.

In the USA, two "soul" shows came out in the fall: The Soul! series, produced by NET/WNET (New York, NY), lasting until 1973; and a George Schlatter/Ed Friendly production, the TV special called Soul, with an October 17, 1968 debut. Redd Foxx appeared in both. I don't know if Soul is available in full length as of 2012, but later episodes of Soul! can be accessed via this Channel 13 link:
