AMC's Mad Men, my favorite long series since HBO's The Sopranos, is back. I love its study of culture, attitudes and manners in action. The interiors, the conflicting fashions, multi-faceted challenges to the ever-changing status quo . . . all fun. The opener has conflicts of wants informed by the constructs and realities of race, gender and socio-economic status. And so begins Season Five (2012) with Memorial Day weekend, 1966.
