Dog Eat Dog, or: Just the Night for a Conquering Tribe

People against the federal government have not thought things through. Or maybe they have and delight in the idea of civil society disintegrating into local fiefdoms, thinking because they have a stockpile of weaponry and potable water they're clever enough to survive such a catastrophe. In which case, they haven't thought that all the way through, either.

If the Federal Government of the United States of America suddenly vaporizes:

No more federal administration of roads, no maintenance, no standards, no speed limits, no anything.
Within days, local militias form and, instead of aiding in litter cleanup as today, politico-cultural groups take over their own sections of roadways. No one gets through without passing these checkpoints. Two miles here are controlled by the local Baptist militia. The Ku Klux Klan controls this swamp crossing. The Black Panthers have seized the high ground in another three mile stretch. A Mormon battalion has seized the road to Zion. A Jewish partisan company is covering the river crossing around the bend. A Methodist militia unit is marching on the border region. The New Beard Amish Legion is racing to block them. A Tea Party squad holds the secondary bridge and is ready to blow it up if anyone threatens to move them. And so on.
There's no national currency, so what do you have to offer at checkpoints in exchange for safe passage?
Big population states will feel compelled to seize low population states in order to keep food supplies and natural resources in reach; city militias will seize surrounding rural areas.

Some will enjoy slaughtering their neighbors, while others will be overrun by refugees fleeing the killing zones.  And so on.

In other words, let the good times roll in the Best of All Possible Worlds. It all begins with the end of federal government.

Today's Rune: Partnership.

"no speed limits"
Sooo, do you want me to be for this, or against this? Haha. :p

I really do wonder if everything will go down as you said it. If that happens of course. The last time we had a shutdown it was little under a month in duration. Hopefully this will be resolved quicker because seriously, I can't drive 55.;) haha.

And then some other country comes in and cleans up the divided pieces. They haven't the faintest idea what they are doing. They don't have enough consciousness to know.
