Hank Williams is one of those performers who went out with a bang. During his heyday -- in the late 1940s and early 1950s -- he looked much older than his age. He died like a rock star at 29. Eerie that his last single was "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive." His music is -- indubitably -- old school Country & Western, "white blues." I've seen Hank, Jr., play, enjoyed his jabs against excessive heat in Raleigh, North Carolina: "It's hotter than five hells in here. . ." It sure seemed like it at the time. But there's only one Hank Williams from the old school.

I watched a documentary on Hank. He certainly played alot of gigs and unfortunately flamed out early.
I must confess I grew up hating Hank Williams. Couldn't stand the twang. I don't mind Hank Williams Jr. though. Especially when he plays "are you read for some football."
Sorry to say but Hank Williams isn't in my musical lexicon, I don't think I've ever heard him sing but I do know about his burn out at a pretty early age but that's about it.
But I do like old school country, before it became like pop controlled by corporations and the musician is not an artist but a money machine.
