Stormy Weather Blues

Detroit is not Miami -- our power outages are only intermittent and our weather is on the other end of the spectrum in winter and, basically, always. Still, when one's under the weather and things are crazy, few things inspire calm better than a healthy dose of Billie Holiday, at least in my book of life. . .

Meanwhile, my car has a new battery to help make it (and me) through the last throes -- and throws -- of a particularly dicey winter, and Lady Day sounds every bit as good as ever . . . even if my temporary crown just inexplicably popped off . . . (argh, another trip to the dentist!). Between The Peter Principle, Murphy's Law and Catch-22, I guess we really are screwed . . .

Today's Rune: Flow.

Lady Day is perfect for ANY day.

The other night one of my co-workers expressed her gladness that our boss does not include any Billie Holiday cd's with the ones he plays in the restaurant. I was puzzled at first until she added "It sucks when you hear music you love over and over again at work. It ruins it for you."

I agree with Johnny's comment (although we don't play any music at the library, obviously.)

Car trouble always happens in the winter. Kind of wish this was California.
