Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Nargis (aka Cyclone Nargis) strikes Myanmar on May 2, 2008.
Since then, here's the circular narrative I keep reading and hearing, over and over again:
A. People are SAD because other people are dead or suffering in the wake of flooding.
B. People are GLAD because they are trying to help those in need.
C. Myanmar Government is BAD because it will not let "B" people HELP those in need.
D. "B" people are MAD because they are being frustrated by "C."
E. Mix A, B, C, D and repeat until the next disaster.
Does this sound about right, or did I miss something?

FYI, I heard Sen. Ted Stevens in person yesterday trying, and failing, to correctly pronounce "Myanmar".

It's easier to be sad and mad rather than; boom boom boom, bang bang bang.
Throw money at it rather than withhold aid of any kind as a way to force the Myanamarese to fight their government.

I believe Sen. Ted Stevens probably got his pronunciation from the Internet, which is a series of tubes, so his information may have been distorted.
