A Freewheelin' Time
I'm about a third into Suze Rotolo's A Freewheelin' Time: A Memoir of Greenwich Village in the Sixties (2008), up to the point where Flip Wilson, Woody Allen, Bill Cosby and Dick Gregory are honing their comedic craft at the Bitter End, the Gaslight and places like them. She's touched on Odetta and John Lee Hooker and has framed the cultural and socio-political backdrop, her family background, her participation in the Bohemian lifestyle of the early and mid-1960s. I love being transported there via her memoir, which overall provides some needed gender balance, too.
Of course, there's also lot about Suze Rotolo and Bobby Dylan, as the book cover telegraphs. More on this soon, I suspect.
Who knew there was snow on the ground? I came upon this very spot a few years ago, walking around the Village.
Today's Rune: Protection.

What's wrong with Dylan's hair here? Looks like it got ironed and then wet.
Sounds like a good book. I was flipping channels the other night and saw Dylan playing a cowboy in "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid."
HAH. I HAVE BEEN AT THE BITTER END NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. WHAT FUN.
