Joy Division: A First Rate Documentary

Joy Division (2007). Directed by Grant Gee; written by Jon Savage. If you know anything at all about Joy Division, New Order, or Manchester; or, if you're interested in modern urban art -- this one is definitely for you. It's a real beauty, tying together Ian Curtis and Joy Division with their roots and setting them properly in their urban landscape, soundscape, dreamscape. Great footage, documentary technique, effects, and soft-spoken interviews. For its scope and depth, a solid A film.

And there's still the bonus disc to explore. Love this -- wonderful work. Here's a trailer:

To all those in the path of Gustav, good luck, y'all!

I have my New Order albums digitized (CD); unfortunately, my Joy Division BBC cassette tape hasn't been played in years. I'll have to put their documentary in my Blockbuster Que.
