Are You Still Working Sir or Do You Just Do the Writing Now?

"Just the writing," responds Albert Finney in the lead role of his self-directed 1967 film, Charlie Bubbles. This absorbingly offbeat existentialist film has finally been released on DVD in the UK, though I'm not sure if it's yet available in the USA.

Has anyone else seen Charlie Bubbles? Albert Finney is such a cool and great actor, one of my favorites from the British Isles (along with the likes of Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Peter O'Toole, Richard Burton, and so on). Charlie Bubbles is a bestselling author, a dude who soared from Manchester rags to worldly riches, and yet is experiencing a funk dealing with the reality split between then and now. I've only seen it once, but for some reason today I was reminded of it.

Today's Rune: Gateway.

Uhhh...I just do the writing now.

I've not seen this movie Erik, but I agree with your assessment of the great Albert Finney.

I haven't seen the movie either, but it sounds interesting. I wonder if it'll make it this far south.

I don't know what it is about the man, I just do NOT like Albert Finney, so I don't tend to watch his movies. I'm goofy that way.

I've never managed to see this movie either, but it sounds interesting. I like Albert Finney better than Lana. I guess we're of different opinions, like Saturday night and Sunday morning. Man I'm on a role with these pointed one-liners.
