Higher Ground
I love it when people call Obama "the young president." In few other American cultural areas, certainly not in team sports, would a man or woman in their mid-forties be so emphatically characterized as young. Dig it and weep.
I also like this observation by John Quelch, paraphrased by Krist Keck: "there are four key components to Obama's cool: he's street cool, family cool, technology cool and culture cool." (Source: Kristi Keck, "Obama: Politician, pop icon -- or both?" CNN online, 1/18/2009). Indeed he is all that and more. Ready, steady, go! Good luck, #44! Only hours to go . . .

The clock hit "0" at midnight. It has been a long time coming to be sure. I think you like that they refer to Obama as young because you're the same age, shoot he's just a kid. It has been said that the children are the bright future of America, may it be so.
John Quelch said it right! This guy is so smart, calm, smart, loveable and warm. He will bring respect back to America!
I used to be young. That is, in my 40s.
Don't you love the fact that the guy who they call "the young President" is the same age as you and I, Erik?
I was struck, as I watched the tape of the inauguration (I was at a doctor's appointment) the difference between he and W. Obama is everything W. wasn't-- self-made, intellectually curious, and concerned about others. He's just a class act.
Good luck indeed. I love hearing him called young, and it is kind of cool that he hates to give up his Blackberry.
Today has been a great day.
Thanks all, for the great comments! It really is such a great day to be alive.
