On the Chisholm Trail, 1972
Just got to see Shola Lynch's fabulous documentary on Shirley Chisholm's 1972 candidacy for president of the USA, Chisholm '72: Unbought & Unbossed. More details in the pipeline.
Today's also the first day of the Lenten Season, post-Fat Tuesday. I'm aiming to raise funds for the Catholic Relief Services.

Ol' Shirley was one of my mothers heroes of the day. How I do remember that time of unrest and daily changes to the American psyche. Maybe I remember it too well; the polarization of American ideologies.
When I saw "chisholm trail" I thought you were getting into the spirit of Wild West Week.
My best friend, Rocket Scientist got the dvd for me for my birthday a couple of years ago. I should make the time to sit and watch it with my son, who, incidentally, called this election for Obama in August of 2007.
I remember thinking, when I was a kid in 1972, that it was she was kind of an absurd candidate. I don't think I'd think that now.
You know, I got to interview her when I was a kid and she was on the lecture circuit. She was pretty cool. It was during the Reagan administration.

I just saw this posting while looking for info on Half Moon Bay, Saudi 1990-1991. I have the exact same pic of the fish road-side resturant and that is what drew my attention to this site.
I went to Half Moon Bay for R&R on Nov 10,1990 and I'm a female and we didn't have to cover up, myself and a fellow soldier swam in our PT gear.
