Yes, Virginia, Sonic Drive-In Has Landed in Michigan, Too

Michiganders no longer have to go South or West to get a Sonic Drive-In fix -- check out the first two in Metro Detroit: 16270 Fort Street, Southgate, MI, and 850 N. Perry Street, Pontiac, MI.

Check out their website for menu items, calories, nutritional information, and other locations outside of Michigan. Can you dig? http://www.sonicdrivein.com/home.jsp

Now that they've come to Michigan, Sonic Drive-In joins Dairy Queen/DQ in retro Populuxe delights.

I've always loved drive-ins. There used to be a Snoopy's in Chapel Hill (sort of along the same line -- or lines -- as Sonic), but it folded in the 1980s. Sonic arrived in North Carolina quite a little while later. These days and all days, if you're going to do fast food in the USA, might as well park your car at "America's Drive-In" while you're at it, eh? (p.s. I always tip, having delivered pizzas back in the day).

Today's Rune: Joy. Ides of March.

We had them in Chicago-- the ones near my house didn't make it, but they must have some others because they are still advertising around here.

They just opened a bunch of "Cricket" stores around here. I had no idea of what they were until my wife mentioned that they sold cell phones. Brave people, opening a new business in the middle of a recession

I have to admit to not being the biggest fan of Sonic.

I've never been to a sonic. If it's a park and eat place, do they come out to you on rollerskates?

Love your blog and your music video...thing. :p

The best thing about sonic that I found was the commercials.

Hey E, I grew up eating at Jim and Ann's, which was the first 'fast food' joint in Alpena. There is also a new Sonic on Groesbeck in Mt. C.

Thanks all for the comments and welcome, Adorably Dead. I've see some servers on rollerskates, they must be winging it . . .
