People who Died -- RIP Jim Carroll
I salute you, brother! Catholic boy, redeemed through pain, not through joy . . .
Got to see him in North Carolina in the 80s and in Detroit in the late 90s (Magic Stick) . . .
Farewell, man . . .

I don't know much about the fellow. Seems like a lot of folks liked him, though. Sorry to hear of his death.
Thanks man.
It's a bummer. The Detroit gig was February 21, 1998. I'll have to figure out the NC details.
I read Basketball Diaries in 1988 when I was supposed to be doing my thesis. I could not put it down -- read it in two days. So honest and human and brave!
Erik -- Thanks for posting this tribute! I just watched People Who Died three times. Every word of it true and borne of the tragedy and pain of his early life. That he surmounted it by turning it into art should give anyone hope.
Thanks for the comments, guys, much appreciated.
Mark, I couldn't agree more. Merci'
A JC fan who just discovered your blog. Thanks for the video. Jim Carroll was the best.
