Cahokia
If the above reminds you of a scene from ancient Mexico, you're not far off. It is, in fact, the spectacular cultural-economic hub of Cahokia built near present-day St. Louis, USA, nearly a thousand years ago!
I'm reading a new overview and will post more when I'm done. Meanwhile, there's Sally A. Kitt Chappell's Cahokia: Mirror of the Cosmos (2004) to check out (with picture above by Lloyd K. Townsend). My sister Linda and I walked around the site in 1982 -- spectacular, though heavily damaged (much destroyed completely) by "modern man." Nonetheless, what is left is well-worth seeing in person.
Today's Rune: Growth.
