Proustian Sinclair

Coming across this Sinclair station was like a little shot of time travel. I do not yet have an explanation, which is good enough for now.

Back in the early 70s, one could see such Sinclair stations in the East. I remember the first year we (my immediate family) moved to North Carolina, a just-abandoned service station sort of like this one was converted into a Pizzaville that later morphed into a Biscuitville. Those were the days when I walked to school  and might drop in for water or crackers -- quite a little while ago now, but all brought back by this Proustian Sinclair.

I'm always excited when I see a Sinclair sign. It's as primal as seeing a snake, only in a much happier way. How about you? Anything you come across now that brings a little thrill or memory jolt like this?

Today's Rune: Journey.

Sinclair gas staions are west of the Mississippi now for whatever reason. Great post, kids love dinosars!

What about the stamps? Now I'm dating myself. As always enjoy your blog Eric. I just don't comment enough but enjoy your writing. MW

I have to say, I don't remember that. I do remember mom & dad buying my brother & I toy "Texaco" gas trucks on a road trip when we were little.
I also recently saw a box of flash bulbs at a 2nd hand store last weekend--remember those?

Those flash CUBES is what I'm talking about--with 1 flash per side?

Thanks all for the comments!

I sure do remember flash bulbs, squares and packs. And also remember a movie where a dude kept setting some off in a villain's face to keep him at bay for a bit. Rear Window, maybe more.

Now I want to set one off!
