Seven Hundred Little Records: All Blues, Rock, Rhythm, and Jazz

With Chuck Berry coming to town on Saturday night, it's time to conjure some favorite tunes of his. "Nadine" (1963) is up there, and "You Never Can Tell" (1964). There's "No Particular Place to Go" (1964) and "Memphis, Tennessee" (1959). Let's not forget a lesser known tune, "Havana Moon" (1957) and also "You Can't Catch Me" (1956). Another favorite is "Promised Land" (1964): "workin' on a t-bone steak a la cart-ee . . ."

There are more -- for tomorrow after the show, maybe.

How about you?

A bunch of Chuck Berry songs may be known as much by cover versions or adaptations -- but his influence is clear and direct -- all down the line -- for nearly sixty years running.

Today's Rune: Breakthrough.

I'm ashamed to say that I forgot/didn't know who Chuck Berry was until I youtubed him.

It's neat to find out that a bunch of the songs you've liked and heard are by one person. Haha.
