Little Rock: Crescendo

Downtown Little Rock from William J. Clinton Presidential Center. Photo taken from interior, through glass.

William J. Clinton Presidential Center (aka Bill Clinton Library) -- interior.

Tower Building, US Arsenal and birthplace of Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964). This structure survived the American Civil War and was the jumping off point for the Camden Expedition in 1864. So far as I can determine, Jeremiah C. France camped on these grounds for a time with the 43rd Indiana, circa 1863-1864. Excellent displays inside and open on Sunday.

Little Rock Central High School, 1957. Members of the 101st Airborne sent by President Dwight Eisenhower to protect the "Little Rock Nine" during the first phase of integration.

Little Rock Central High on a cloudy day -- today.

Forever in history Arkansas will be reembered for having to have the 101st airborne escort some little kids to school. Not one of my state's finest moments. It has long made me ashamed.

Erik, I've never met a library I didn't like. Dane recently joined the local library and was totally thrilled with his 6 check outs!
