La Seduction: How the French Play the Game of Life, Part 1

Elaine Sciolino's La Seduction: How the French Play the Game of Life (Times Books, Henry Holt and Company, 2011) presents the reader with a grand look at France and French culture, through the prism of seduction. Just about anyone would bring something away from reading this book, curious to learn more. Why? Because besides the daily seductions, we are presented with a broader take on history, politics, ideas, art, economics, fashion, social interaction and more, with emphasis on the past fifty years but with telling glimpses going all the way back to the Gauls and the Roman Empire. Nifty-fifty, indeed.

Today's Rune: The Mystery Rune.

A couple of my local friends are Francophiles and have regaled me with quite a few fabulous tales.

Erik, oooh, this one sounds good. I was at a bar/restaurant recently and saw a big, wonderful movie poster with Bridgette Bardot. It was a Jean Luc Goddard film. I tried to buy it off the wall but the owner had it on loan from a friend and could not sell it! Made me think of you!
