Anne Sexton Revisited

Helpful Anne Sexton (11/9/1928-10/4/1971) resources include the following:

Anne Sexton, The Complete Poems (1999). Nice to have them all in one volume.

Anne Sexton: A Self-Portrait in Letters, edited by Linda Gray Sexton and Lois Ames (1977, 2004).

Diane Wood Middlebrook, Anne Sexton: A Biography (1991).

Linda Gray Sexton, Searching for Mercy Street: My Journey Back to My Mother, Anne Sexton (1995).

Audio is hard to come by in the latest formats, but this will change. In the past on cassette: Anne Sexton Reads and The Voice of the Poet, edited by J.D. McClatchy. There are also audio snippets on the internet as of this posting.

Laila Maria Salins, InSomnia/InSexton (2006), adapted from many of the above sources.

Next, the Anne Sexton movie? She is, after all, more interesting than Sylvia Plath, who received an extensive and balanced shake in Sylvia (2003), not to mention The Bell Jar (1979). There is a rare documentary about Anne Sexton-at-work shot in the early 1970s, but when has it been aired in the past thirty years? Sexton's papers are available for research at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, The University of Texas at Austin.

Today's Rune: Journey.

Au revoir -- Bonne journée!

I read few poems of Anne Gray and found depressive, deep, chaotic and rich! Eric, I was lost here in ways to as many publications, I read all posts. In the light the publications are scarce due to Fair Fashion Beach that happens in my city. Explained my absence for here! Beijus

I'm not much for poetry; however, I find the confessional poets very intriguing. I'm more familiar with Plath. My favorite poem of hers is "Lady Lazarus," which sums up her existence and fate quite well.

I don't do poetry a whole lot... usually I would only read it when required in school. Some poetry I just have trouble understanding what it is the poet is trying to relay to me... oh well... I guess I'll learn eventually. ;o)
