Great Iggy footage. Love the peanut butter tossing. I still can't believe they use one of his songs for a cruise ship commericial. The crowd seemed really into the concert too. This reminds me of all those times I went to Traxx in Detroit to here various rock bands including The Ramones. I'm glad I survived the era.
One of the last emails I got from my late friend Mark was about that album, with the title "Please, god, don't let it suck..." He and I saw Iggy at the Cabaret Metro, a great rock club that was around the corner from our apartment in 1988.
The New York Times online had a clip of the sessions for the album-- I didn't know it was being recorded here in Chicago. I love how they mention that the Ig has been off drugs for 7 years now. He gets off drugs every three or four years, it seems. He now claims Bordeaux is his drug of choice.
I am still shaking my head about the cruise ship commercial. How come they never get to the part where he's "had it in the ear before"?
Jr-- did you know any of the managers of Traxx? I have two friends, Michael Roper and Tommy Blacha were managers of punk clubs in Detroit.
I discovered Iggy Pop late but have been making up for lost time. Good stuff here.
