Houston, we have a problem. (Or is it Dallas?)
We have to wait another fifty-odd days before G.W. Bush will leave the White House.
I'm starting to read and hear things that hearken back to the last days of Herbert Hoover -- calls to speed up the inauguration, to make things happen right now, for Bush to stand down before things get even worse. Bring on President Obama!
Here's an example, jusy a little taste of this trend, from yesterday's New York Times (Gail Collins, "Time for Him to Go"):
If Bush gives up doing nothing by giving up his job, it’s possible that someday history might elevate him to the ranks of the below average. Better than Franklin Pierce! Smarter than Warren Harding! And healthier than William Henry Harrison!
Evil! But true enough, I suppose.
Today's Rune: Defense.

Isn't it incredible? I read that column today. We're all just waiting here for W. to go and a really smart guy to take office and start fixing things. Things have become so fucked up that even the fifty days until inauguration seem like an eternity.
The Shrub, The Shrub, The Shrub ... not even worth a dog lifting its leg.
50 days is a long time indeed. Strangely enough, Obama's victory arouse hopes all around the world. We all are waiting for him to take office.
P.S. I saw your comment on my blog. I sometimes write in Turkish especially when I feel that I can express myself better about a certain topic.
You have a nice blog! I will be certainly be a follower of it.
56 days 16 hours until the clock hits "0"
bush would never resign early, there is apparently still money to be stolen and secret deals to be made to ensure his friends have theirs secured.
We, in the south do not support here, we imagine in the North America. In the truth, nobody supports silly more the glad one of Bush! Good week! Beijus
Patience is a hard virtue to earn.
No kidding. Have you noticed how, just about every time Obama is interviewed or gives a statement, he has to remind everyone that there's "only one president at a time"?
January 20 might be a good occasion for a party I think.
Thanks all, for the comments!
Welcome, Ido Atlasian!
Cheers, all -- and cheers to Obama's presidency.
there is NO hope for bush --- no matter what he does
he will go down as the worst president ever - worse than harding, buchanan, pierce (who is actually a relative of his on his uber-bitch mother's side) and hoover.
his legacy is set
but none of this is any consolation to a nation that is suffering from such gross incompetence and evil
