From Vietnam to the US House of Reps
I'm happy for Vietnamese Americans and for all of us in the USA for this: Anh Joseph Cao's* election to the US Congress -- even if he is technically a Republican. A smart guy in his 40s, like Obama, and also like Obama, a community advocate. I wish him the best. This Saigon-born Vietnam War refugee and fan of Dostoyevsky / Dostoevski and Camus seems existentially thoughtful and Jesuit cool in my book. So far, so good.
*Cao sounds like "Gow" in American English.
Today's Rune: Movement.

Why are we still focusing on heritage rather than citizenship? Cao is an American. Beyond that what difference does his ancestry make?
I'm surprised he didn't be the corrupt (& indicted, I believe,) Jefferson by more of a landslide, but that's Louisiana for you...
We need people with good wills! How thus either! Beijus
Now there is someone in Congress even more qualified to speak out when Sen. John Kerry talks about how nice the re-education camps North Vietnam forced the South Vietnames into were.
And he's from Louisiana? Imagine our backward state being on the cutting edge.
