Afghanistan and Iraq

Afghanistan, June 2011: NATO International Security Assistance Force

Under the Obama Administration, bin Laden has been killed and tonight, the President announced troop reductions in Afghanistan. The US and its NATO-led allies are making a socio-economic and political move that is pragmatic, a compromise solution -- they are all drawing down. The various home fronts have been clamoring for this and in country the majority of Afghans want it, too. Meanwhile, the Libya war ought to play out this summer. If this is surely not the best of all possible worlds, it's better than escalating what are already two (Iraq and Afghanistan) of the longest running wars in US history. Anyone out there disagree with the drawdown?

I definitely think the draw down is a good idea. I wish we weren't even involved in Libya though.

I think it is not enough, not soon enough and should have been we're leaving next week and picking up the 50,000 troops we have left in Iraq. let them kill each other like they have been doing for the past 2000 years. Pakistan and India are not our problem if THEY can't be pragmatic and settle their differences it is none of our business either.

Every day we stay is more money we borrow to aid them and in return we get spit on. And in the end they will have single payer health care modern infrastructure and we will have purchased it all for them as well as give Karzai even more billions to steal.

Why do we have to be policemen of the world? I agree with TWM. We don't learn from our past mistakes.
Corrupt regimes and politicians alike have bankrupt America but we keep giving aide and denying our own citizens. MW

Drawdown?

How about pullout?

Poor Mr. Obama is taking too much advice from the military.

Get the hell out. Yesterday.

A no win situation as far as I can see it. If we had limited our war to Afghanistan ten years ago, we might have affected a change. I think we should get out as fast as we can.

I think it's time. If not now, when?
