Steven Spielberg's Lincoln (2012) delivers. Over the course of two and one half hours, this fine movie manages to get at the complexities of the Lincoln presidency, the central importance of race relations, slavery and the American Civil War in modern history, and the difficulties and pitfalls of democratic government in general.
Even streamlined, Lincoln effectively delves into a complicated series of interweaving maneuvers and conflicts, social and personal, some of them still with us nearly 150 years later. Kudos. I give Lincoln an A without hesitation.
Today's Rune: Journey.

Erik, thank goodness for these flicks that help teach me about history. I paid absolutely no attention in high school!
I want to see this and will have Lana reserve it at the library once it's released. It certainly looked from the previews like Lewis did a great job.
