This is what an arsenal looks like after being destroyed in wartime. Remnants of the Fayetteville Arsenal, Fayetteville, North Carolina. In mid-winter 1865, retreating Confederates dismantled and removed as much equipment as they could. Elements of Sherman's army did the rest after marching into town on March 11, 1865.

I just learned a few days ago that on or near these grounds will soon be built North Carolina's new $65 million Civil War History Center. Here's a pertinent article about it.
